Are there grants available for small business?

Based on my experience as the former director for a national non-profit:
- The IRS "generally" prohibits a "non profit" from "giving" or "granting" anything to a "for profit" business. There are very strict rules the "non profit" must abide by in order to keep its "non profit tax exempt" status.
- A "non profit" can offer training, courses, and provide services.

Based on my general experience in business:
- Government entities (federal, state, county, city) can "prioritize" their budgets so that certain types of businesses may be "targeted" for the expenditures associated with the budget. National service and disability status aside, I consider the practice somewhat discriminatory and laden with opportunity for all sorts of unethical probabilities. Nonetheless, there may be such a program available near you. Inquiry at the administrative offices of your various levels of government is where to start.

Thanks for the information.

NIST is a non-regulatory federal agency within the U.S. Department of Commerce. NIST's mission is to promote U.S. innovation and industrial competitiveness by advancing measurement science, standards, and technology in ways that enhance economic security and improve our quality of life.

What is NIST?

Another option would be to partner with a local non-profit who is interested in supporting your business.

Typically no, but you might check out NIST Programs
